RoadMetric - Dedicated platform for weighing infrastructure
A dedicated platform supporting the weighing infrastructure on expressways. Implementation carried out in cooperation with Vilab, combining the requirements of public institutions with modern technologies.
RoadMetric is a nationwide platform supporting the Road Transport Inspection in monitoring vehicles at weigh stations. The system operates in real time and presents data on the inspector's screen within seconds after a vehicle passes.
During the passage, the system automatically measures speed, weighs the vehicle and calculates the mass distribution/axle load. Based on this, it quickly identifies overloaded vehicles that should be directed for inspection, increasing road safety and protecting road infrastructure.
The application provides inspectors with a history of passages for selected locations along with advanced filtering options. The system automatically generates monthly reports, facilitating the analysis of violations and planning of control activities.
RoadMetric is a multi-location solution — it supports weigh stations across the entire country, providing centralized access to data and a unified reporting standard.
The platform was built on a modern stack: C# (logic and data processing), Kubernetes (scalability and high availability), and Next.js (fast web interface for inspectors).

Problem
As part of the tender announced by GDDKiA and ITD, it was necessary to implement a modern system that would automatically and reliably monitor heavy vehicles on expressways. The goal was to increase transport safety, reduce excessive wear of road infrastructure, and provide inspectors with tools for quick response to violations.
Previously used solutions were fragmented – they lacked data centralization, which made it difficult to create comprehensive reports on a national scale. Many processes required additional manual handling, and access to information was dispersed across various local systems.
The key challenge was to create a solution that would operate in real-time and provide access to transit data within seconds of registration. The system also needed to be scalable, ready to support multiple locations nationwide, and fully integrated with the infrastructure provided by Vilab – including dynamic scales, license plate recognition cameras, and ITS systems responsible for data collection and transmission.
Business value
The implementation of the RoadMetric platform enabled public institutions to enforce transport regulations more effectively and significantly improved the process of inspecting heavy vehicles. Thanks to its real-time operation, inspectors receive full information about each passage within seconds, allowing them to immediately identify overloaded vehicles and direct them for detailed inspection.
The system also provides centralized data from multiple locations across the country, enabling the creation of consistent nationwide reports and analyses. This eliminates the need for manual aggregation of data from various sources and increases the transparency of control activities.
With automatic monthly reports and intuitive filtering tools, inspectors can quickly detect trends, while supervisory institutions gain reliable information for making strategic decisions. The solution has contributed to improved road safety, protection of infrastructure from excessive load, and optimization of inspection teams work, which has translated directly into greater efficiency and effectiveness of supervisory activities.
